I am still full from my lovely "birthday" dinner at Bobby Flay's downtown restaurant Mesa Grill. The occasion was Restaurant Week in NYC where a bunch of upscale restaurants have lunch courses for $35 and lunch for $24. Overall, I'd have to say it wasn't the most sensational meal I've ever had but the appetizer was. The Spicy Salmon Tartare was AMAZING, absolutely amazing.
hmmm i also had my coconut chocolate chip scone from the farmers market. They are my favorite and there is still half of one of my desk. Once in a while I try a different flavor like pumpkin spice and today I got brown sugar maple pecan but the coconut chocolate chip is the all time favorite. I get that darn scone so often the baker man remembers me. I walk up there and he says "coconut? :)" and of course I say yes.
The best and simultaneously the saddest part of my day was a bittersweet realization that I had about the people I love. I realized that I really really love my family and they are a huge part of my life. I'm so thankful to feel that way, but it makes it harder to move away and be away to pursue certain goals. I love being at home, and I know that I love it more now because I'm usually away and now I really appreciate home. So, I don't know. I don't feel its quite ready to return to the rock but I do miss it. Anyway, my predicament just reveals the ultimately blessed life that I have been given.
